Chapter Twenty: Familiar
Reilly lay awake most of the night, trying to understand why
he didn’t see it coming, and why he didn’t ascertain the seriousness of a blood
promise with a Pucatrow before he’d
made the promise. Cormack had assured Reilly that if anyone did not honor his
blood promise, a Pucatrow could imprint the body of the one who had failed to keep that promise...
.....But it was done.
There was no going back on an exchange with a Pucatrow.
