Chapter Twenty-Four: Return of Jaida
(Mid Chapter)
“This is the process of Nature,” Jaida continued. “Life
emerges and begins to grow. In time, the elements of Mother Earth converge, and
transform all life into the greatest potential within it.”
Reilly tried to relax and just listen. He looked intently at the strange creature, her upper torso covered in iridescent
scales and the rest of her body covered in feathers.
“Humans must learn to welcome and appreciate not only the
lushness of life, but the uncertainties. Stepping into the flames of
uncertainty is the only way to allow real change. Nature teaches the greatest
lessons of life and the deepest understandings of death.”
Reilly stepped back when he caught a glimpse of a hissing
scorpion crawling across Jaida’s foot. He shifted slightly on his own two feet
as the Guardian of Nature looked down at the scorpion.
“There is competition for survival only where those of your
kind reside. When Nature is truly understood and respected, the sting of the
scorpion is also honored.”
